Born in Hamburg, I went on to train as a master carpenter at the "Handwerkskammer" (Chamber of Crafts) in Luebeck after completing a carpenter apprenticeship
after high school. Two years later, I studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. My diploma thesis, an original print from basswood relief
plates and set with lead letters, was bought by the "Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe" (Hamburg Museum of Arts and Trades).
In 2006, I founded the studio "Igor und die Anderen" (Igor and the Others), together with Jonas Lauströer.
Since then, I have been working as an independent illustrator and organizing workshops on woodcutting techniques.
In 2009, my book on basic wood and linocut techniques was published by the Haupt Verlag, Bern - to date the only book on this topic written in German.
Between 2011-2013, I held a lectureship for woodcutting techniques at the HAW (Hamburg University of Applied Sciences)
Department Design. In 2013 , I was awarded a Master of Arts by the HAW.
